In February 1967, the British government had allowed the Caribbean island of Anguilla a degree of self-government on condition that it accepted a subservient status as an associated state of the larger island of St. Kitts, 112 miles away.
THE RAF STARTS ITS BOMBING CAMPAIGN IN LIBYA

Today in 2011, the Royal Air Force started its bombing campaign over Libya. United Nations resolution 1973 had authorized member states to enforce a no-fly zone and to use all necessary means to protect civilians. However the British government was soon involved in the pursuit of regime change to topple Gadaffi, who it had previously courted as an ally.
