BRITISH TROOPS MASSACRE HUNDREDS OF CIVILIANS IN MULTAN

Today in 1849, British soldiers, under the command of Brigadier-General the Honourable Henry Dundas, raped, pillaged and murdered hundreds of civilians, after fighting their way into the city of Multan, located in what is today the province of Punjab of Pakistan.

On 2 January 1947, Field Marshal Montgomery, Chief of the Imperial General Staff, informed General Sir Harold Pyman, Chief of Staff of Middle East Land Forces that the Cabinet Defence Committee had backed his own preference for a hard line in Palestine where demands were mounting for the immediate creation of an independent Jewish state.
