CYPRIOT BOYS BIRCHED UNDER EMERGENCY REGULATIONS

On 13 January 1956, six Greek Cypriot boys from Famagusta were birched under one of several emergency regulations introduced the previous month to stamp out an island wide rebellion against British rule.
